Dr. Gregory "Greg" Mueller is a character from
Resident Evil Outbreak. He originally worked for Umbrella Corporation and his role was to develop and test new Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W.s) at their R&D facility in Raccoon City. The main reason for the developments were to test their viabilities in combat situations. One of his most infamous roles was a hand in the development of the
t-Virus which would eventually cause ruin throughout the world.
However, at this stage it was still being tested and he was involved in human trials. He spent time travelling between the R&D facility, Raccoon University and Raccoon City General Hospital under the watchful eye of Umbrella. He also worked on a passion project named
Thanatos which was a fork of the
T-103 project that had already been tried and tested. Impressed by his creation, Umbrella immediately wanted to take over the project and begin cloning
Thanatos immediately for mass production.
Greg detested this idea and began working on a project which would undo the
t-Virus project which was an antiviral antidote named Daylight. He worked with a Raccoon University scientist named
Dr. Peter Jenkins and gradually fed him dribs and drabs of info about the virus in order to get the assistance he needed without rousing suspicion about who he really worked for.
After this point, the
t-Virus outbreak of Raccoon City occurred and the entire city was brought to its knees by the mutants which now crowded its streets and buildings. While many survivors were evacuated, Greg and
Peter remained at work. Once he felt that
Peter had outlived his usefulness, he shot him in the head and then activated his
Thanatos project, programming it with clear instructions to eliminate all Umbrella security personnel that it encounters, as well as any other survivors in its path.
Greg had planned to use
Thanatos to barge his way into Umbrella and use the threat of the Daylight as a bargaining chip. However, his old colleague
Peter had outsmarted him; he had spread out notes of how to create Daylight throughout the university and these had been picked up by some survivors - now anyone had the ability to synthesise Daylight.
He was then killed by
Nikolai Zinoviev who was on a secret mission to the university at the time. After this, the entire university was destroyed with C4 charges which was noticed by the Raccoon City Fire Department (RFD) who were flying nearby in a helicopter looking for survivors.
Thanatos was soon destroyed also when it was disabled with Daylight.
He can be unlocked as a playable character and shares characteristics with
George Hamilton. It's also worth mentioning that his basic stats are generally lower than average but he always starts with an item which stops the infection rate from rising for a time.
