Linda Baldwin is a character from
Resident Evil Outbreak. Also named "Rinda" in some versions due to a mistranslation from Japanese.
She was an Umbrella employee and worked for their R&D Center in Raccoon City. She often worked with another employee named
Carter. While her role was mostly unremarkable, she did assist on the development of a kind of vaccine for the
t-Virus, tentatively named AT1521. It was designed to halt the virus in its tracks and prevent it from progressing any further on an infected person.
During the
t-Virus outbreak that occurred in the city during late September of 1998, she ran directly to the R&D Center in order to retrieve the vaccine, and
Carter came with her. However, the building entered a lock-down state and a number of developmental B.O.W.s (Bio-Organic Weapons) called Hunters were roaming its halls, looking for their next victims.
Carter knew of a Tyrant which was being housed in the building and attempted to re-program it, directing it to eliminate the Hunters and allow both him and Linda safe passage. However, it proved to be too powerful and became self-aware. It turned on
Carter, killed him and then swiped at Linda which caused her to drop the AT1521 and fall off a suspended pathway and into the sewer system below.
Miraculously, she survived the fall and was later found by some survivors who were travelling through the area looking for a way out. She then proceeded back to the surface and made it to downtown Raccoon City.
She later found a way out of the city before its eventual destruction and was one of the main people who managed to take down Umbrella, giving evidence in court regarding the company.
Linda can be unlocked as a playable character and shares characteristics with
Cindy Lennox.
