News and announcements

You may know Supermassive Games from horror titles such as Until Dawn and other games of that ilk. So far we have a teaser, and a full trailer is expected to be released tomorrow (March 17). The game is also published by 2K games who help put out all kinds of games but not usually horror, so this could be interesting. Since in the initial tweet from Supermassive states that the game is an all-new horror experience, expect it to be similar to their previous games (not a bad thing!)
As you may or may not be aware, Dino Crisis was another survival horror series from the Resident Evil creator, Shinji Mikami with the help of Capcom Japan. While the first game played similarly to Resident Evil, albeit with fully 3D environments (with either a fixed or dynamically pointed camera), later games became more action-oriented. Many players will remember Regina, the red-haired protagonist of the first two games. In fact, her likeness appears as an extra costume for Jill in...
Live-Action action Well, it turns out that there's been a bunch of new information regarding that famous (or infamous, however you may look at it) scene that played at the beginning of the original Resident Evil. For the longest time, not a whole lot was known about it as none of the actors were fully credited and a lot of other potentially juicy info has been lost to time. Thanks to a community effort though, we now know quite a bit more about it and there's also some rather exciting news...
After many, many years of rumours and general spit-ballin', Capcom have finally announced the full-fledged remake of Resident Evil 4 which will be coming to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC platforms simultaneously in March 2023, so just under a years time at the time of posting. This game was an inevitability. Capcom have been remaking Resident Evil games gradually since 2001, when they first released the Resident Evil Remake on the Nintendo GameCube. It was also around the same time...
Upgrades with "visual enhancements" for these titles were announced back in March for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and sure enough Capcom have now delivered. What's more - if you own the PS4 / Xbox One versions of these titles - the upgrades are completely free, however the PS Plus offering of Resident Evil 7 is not eligible. Each release also comes with their own respective trophy / achievement lists. Enhancements include ray-tracing support, 4K modes, higher framerates, faster loading...
We're living in the age of remasters, and The Last of Us has already had that treatment once before, with The Last of Us first releasing for the PS3 towards the end of that consoles life, and then a short time later The Last of Us Remastered for the PS4. Time flies though, the Remastered version was released way back in 2014, and the original a year earlier. So almost a decade later, it's having another release, only this time for PS5 and PC platforms. The initial discovery of the project...
Sega reveals the Mega Drive Mini 2 (which will be most likely known as the Genesis Mini 2 in the USA). It was going to happen at some point - Sega are continuing the trend of miniaturised and modernised versions of retro consoles. Previously they released the Mega Drive / Genesis Mini which was based on the first version of the Mega Drive / Genesis, which boasted 42 emulated games. This new device is expected to come with 50 emulated games, including some which were exclusive to the Mega...
Is it a horror game? Definitely not. Although it's very drab with lots of nasty choices to make... And ultimately your morals will be tested. Should you do your job correctly to the letter, even if you know in your heart that it's not always the 'right' thing? Or are you gonna switch off your emotions entirely and just be a part of the machine? The choice is yours. But be prepared for reprimand if you choose the former. The game is excellent and addictive. Papers Please is a 2D game by...
Hold onto your limbs, the cautiously awaited remake of Dead Space has a Livestream on the official Dead Space YouTube channel. It's expected to be live on March 11th 2022, 18:00 UTC (10:00 PST, 13:00 EST) at this link. HOPEFULLY we will get to see some gameplay of the Remake with some commentary from the development team. I'm excited to see some gameplay footage and improvements, we don't often get a front seat of the development process in AAA games.
As noted, Umbrella Online will be temporarily inaccessible for at least 2-3 hours this afternoon (12/03/22) from 12:00 GMT for essential maintenance. I will comment further once completed. --EDIT-- Maintenance completed, see comment.
It's finally happening, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard are all getting what Capcom call a 'next-gen' update for the PS5, Xbox Series and PC. What you're gonna get is a free update which will include Ray Tracing, high frame-rates (above 60fps) and enhanced 3d audio. PS5 users will also get full DualSense support. Personally, I can't wait to see what these are gonna look like with Ray Tracing enabled. It must have taken a lot of work to get...
🤫 Do you hear that? .. The rumour mill is whirring once again. Until Dawn is reportedly getting a next-gen remake from Supermassive Games, somewhat unexpectedly given that it was only released in 2015 - a remaster seems more likely. The rumour comes from a credible source, Twitter user AccountNGT, who is making a name for themselves having 'announced' Star Wars Eclipse ahead of time. Interestingly the leak suggests the remake will be coming to next-gen consoles, given that the original was...
Courtesy of Netflix, BioShock is most likely to be the next game in line to receive a film adaptation. This news follows the recent release of Uncharted, which is receiving expectedly average reviews so far as seems to be customary for such adaptations (6.8 on IMDb and 41% on Rotten Tomatoes respectively).. No specifics have been yet been disclosed, but Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick did make the following statement to IGN: The next instalment in the game world of the franchise was also...

Exciting news! The original domain of Umbrella Online (umbrellaonline.co.uk) has successfully been re-acquired, and a redirect has been put in place. It remains to be seen whether this will result with an increase in traffic and/or returning members, but that is the hope.. 🙂
EA has finally announced the long-rumoured remake of Dead Space at EA Play Live 2021, and it will be next-gen and PC exclusive. EA Motive is taking lead on development using EA's famed Frostbite engine. Though the teaser doesn't show all that much, it does give us a sneak peek at a game that is being completely rebuilt for next-gen hardware. Additionally, there will be an improved story, characters, gameplay mechanics, and more. Prepare your limbs for a horrific and brutal adventure...
Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Re:Verse will no longer launch this month, but has instead been pushed back to 2022. In a further comment from the same Twitter account, it was added that anyone who has purchased the physical copy should either redeem the code for Resident Evil Re:Verse now, or keep it in a safe place until next year. Re:Verse is the next multiplayer iteration of Resident Evil following on from Resistance. As soon as a revised release date is confirmed we'll let...
Since Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the Resident Evil series has seen some welcome changes - most important has been Capcom’s in-house game engine called the RE Engine. It’s also powered other games such as Devil May Cry 5. But it’s highly flexible, has tons of modern graphical features and it’s also incredibly well optimised which means that the games it uses can look stunningly realistic without slowing down. In Resident Evil Village, you once again play as Ethan Winters and the game serves...
This is a brief review of the game Carrion, developed by Phobia Game Studio and published by Devolver Digital. Carrion is a game where you play as a dangerous tentacled monster with unknown abilities in which more and more are granted over time. You start the game in containment but you can quite quickly break out and then cause havoc, ripping your way through rooms and (literally) people. You can evolve the creature as you play by consuming matter which involves you growing larger...
