Frost (first name not known) is a character from
Resident Evil Outbreak. His name may not actually be frost, in the games he is either known as Researcher or Scholar, so it may just be more of a nickname given how he is found.
He was employed by Umbrella Corporation as a researcher and was assigned to NEST, an underground facility headed by Dr.
William Birkin which housed many experimental projects such as the development of the Golgotha virus (G-Virus) and the
Hunter R (then known as MA-125R).
NEST was the source of the
t-Virus outbreak which hampered Raccoon City in mid-late September 1998. It all began when U.B.C.S. (Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service) mercenaries had entered the facility with the aim of retrieving the remaining Golgotha samples from Dr. Birkin. However, something went wrong and Dr. Birkin was shot, and he subsequently injected himself with the G-Virus to recover. However this gradually turned him into a monster and in doing so he also infected the towns water supply with the
t-Virus, thus causing the outbreak.
During the commotion,
Hunter R's were also released which killed many of Frosts colleagues. He encountered the Hunters and received an injury from them. In panic, he decided to run to the Low Temperature Laboratory and reduced the temperature of the facility to a below freezing level, believing that this would stop the monsters and put them in a cryogenic state.
This didn't quite work unfortunately, and Frost soon died of his injuries - and then he was frozen in place. An additional effect was that the control panel to operate the temperature controls had also frozen so by the time other survivors entered the area they had to figure out a way to reduce the temperature.
He left a will by his body which suggested that he could not believe the kinds of things Umbrella were working on and that the company had no right (ethical or otherwise) to create such monsters.
He can be unlocked as a playable character and shares characteristics with
George Hamilton. It's also worth nothing there is another version of Frost that is also playable which has marginally different stats but his character model shows that he is injured.
