Resident Evil Survivor is the first entry into the light gun genre for the series. It features an all-new protagonist who finds himself on Sheena Island which turns out to belong to Umbrella and is beset by a t-Virus outbreak which unleashes all kinds of terrible creatures such as Zombies and more powerful B.O.W.s (Bio-Organic Weapons) like the new Hypnos T-Type Tyrant.
As the game is a light gun game, the perspective is first person and the movement is also controlled by the player. The object of the game is to shoot all hazards before they reach you and make your way through the levels but there are branching paths at certain points for slight changes in the narrative.
The game was poorly reviewed, particularly the USA PlayStation release which oddly did not support any kind of light gun peripheral. However in general it was criticised for it's strange existence as a fast-paced light gun game in the Resident Evil universe, which at that point consisted of slower, more tactical gameplay.
