Andy Holland was an ex-convict who after many years of misdeeds was offered a new start by Umbrella in which they gave him the position of maintaining the sewer system of their Sheena Island operation which consisted of both research laboratories and a civilian village.
He has the appearance of a middle aged man with a walking aid and a flashlight. It's clear he had a difficult life and was simply happy to being given another chance and some responsibilities.
As he spent most of his time in the sewers he was blissfully unaware of what kinds of things Umbrella was doing above ground; namely
t-Virus research and the development of Tyrant B.O.W.s (Bio-Organic Weapons). He was then met by
Ark Thompson who was a private detective masquerading as island commander
Vincent Goldman - as the two had never met before he initially believed him.
When a
t-Virus outbreak occurred on the island he remained underground he realised that the man he met was not Vincent and vowed to hunt the spy down and kill him. After being able to survive for a while he is eventually killed offscreen - either by a
Zombie or through an explosion when the island is destroyed.
In an alternative scenario it is possible for
Andy to remain alive longer and continue to tail Ark in his escape of the island up until the
Hypnos T-Type is released which first kills
Andy and then turns to Ark as his next target.
The creature is then killed by a missile fired from a helicopter and the island is destroyed. However, it is assumed that this scenario is not the true ending of the adventure -
Andy is normally set to perish in the sewers.
