The Hypnos T-Type was a one-of-a-kind variation of the
T-103 Tyrant which was created in the Sheena Island purpose-built Tyrant Plant and was the brainchild of
Vincent Goldman. The Tyrant Plant itself was one of the key factories that the
T-103 model was produced and as such Vincent had many opportunities to experiment with many different T-103s to attempt to find the perfect balance between power, stability and overall effectiveness.
It was named after the Greek God of Sleep, Hypnos. It likely had this name as it had a unique characteristic where it's body could constantly regenerate cells and reject sub-optimal ones, going through a constant process of cell mutation until the perfect genetic makeup had been achieved. It also required a hormone which was present in all humans and could be extracted - but it appeared most of all in small children; a neurotransmitter which activates upon fear (similar to using screaming as an energy source in Disney-Pixars Monster's Inc oddly enough) which is one of the reasons why Sheena Island had a small community set up alongside the Umbrella laboratories.
In appearance it resembled a
T-103 but with a light mutation on its left arm which left it with darker, toughened skin and claws and also had the same thicker skin on it's right leg. In this form is would have been reasonably effective in covert operations.
However like all
T-103's the Hypnos T-Type would undergo uncontrolled mutations once enough damage had been caused. As only one was ever encountered, only two mutations have been observed:
The first mutation caused it's entire body to increase in muscle mass and it's mouth became more monstrous with sharp teeth - and every single one of it's digits now had sharp claws.
