Resident Evil: Dead Aim is a hybrid light-gun shooter which is part of the Gun Survivor series. The game is quite unique in the way that it is not on rails and features a combination of third person exploration and first person light-gun style shooting. The game was first released exclusively for the PlayStation 2 and supported either a standard controller, light-guns like the Namco GunCon/G-Con 2 or a PS2-compatible USB mouse.

The game features a new plot and small cast of characters rather than being based on a specific game - the player controls Bruce McGivern, a member of US Strategic Command Forces (US STRATCOM - an organisation which Leon Kennedy is also a member). The character has a history of getting into large gunfights which lends itself quite nicely into the shooting gameplay. It also features a new type of Umbrella-engineered Virus named the t+G virus which is a combination of the t-Virus (Tyrant Virus) and antibodies of the G-virus which essentially make it a superpowered version of the regular t-Virus.

Critically, the game received middling reviews - while some reviewers respected the risk the developers took to create a more flexible light-gun game, others saw it as a problem that didn't really need fixing. Many reviewers also thought that the storyline and new characters were quite generic. However, the game is still enjoyable and thrilling to play and had excellent graphics for the time.
