Morpheus D. Duvall was a senior Umbrella researcher who, after becoming critically injured in a grenade blast, infected himself with the t+G (Tyrant + Golgotha) virus which restored his strength, gave him superhuman abilities around electro-magnetism and also curiously altered his physiology from a male form to a female form. He was always striving for perfection and he believed that after his initial infection he had mutated into his most perfect form.
However, due to being attacked with an experimental weapon that was designed to penetrate the defences of the t+G virus (curiously, it was a weapon that he and his team designed) he began to mutate into more and more monstrous forms until eventually he resembled a huge bloated body with his human head sitting atop it, upside-down. One of the more interesting facts about his infection was that his intelligence and human nature was still retained, even through to his final moments.

It's also interesting to note that even though his mutations became grotesque, parts of this form are still recognisable such as the bone-like structure that now takes place on his back, and his enlarged left arm. He was soon obliterated with a gunshot to the head when his electro-magnetic abilities began to fail.
