After being kicked out of the Air Force due to disagreements with his superiors, Chris became a drifter until he met Barry Burton who recruited him for the special tactics force S.T.A.R.S. Chris had to prove himself quickly, and after solving the "mansion incident" he transferred from Raccoon City to Europe with his team members Barry and Jill. A tough guy who possesses a will of iron and body of steel, he is an expert at handling firearms and a top-notch airman.

After S.T.A.R.S. was disbanded, in 2003 Chris became a founding member of the private anti-biohazard unit Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA), formed to oppose a growing wave of bioterrorism. Chris has lost many friends during countless missions and sometimes finds himself asking, is it all worth fighting for? It's not a question he knows the answer to.
