The ZombieDog is the result of a t-Virus infection on canines. When a Dog becomes infected a gradual transition occurs where the dogs aggression increases massively at the expense of severely reduced intelligence and necrosis of skin and muscle tissue.
The effect happens more quickly on strays but it also affects domesticated dogs.
In general, Zombie Dogs retain far more of their past intelligence and instinct when compared to what happens when human beings become Zombies. For example they continue to hunt in packs and they also have the ability to prowl and ambush their prey.
In all other respects, they act the same as regular Zombies - they have a need to feed on flesh and also spread the virus. In most cases dogs become infected through bites and also by drinking contaminated water.
A similar B.O.W. (Bio-Organic Weapon) exists where dogs were used in early versions of t-Virus experiments named the Cerberus. They are considered separate as the t-Virus strain that results in Zombie Dogs tends to be the later Epsilon strain. The Cerberus projects were halted after the initial outbreak at the Spencer Mansion.
