The Giant Alligator was a unique mutant alligator which grew enormously through a t-Virus infection. It made its home in the Raccoon City sewer system after it was flushed down a toilet as a young long. Unfortunately the t-Virus began to contaminate the water which culminated in a city-wide outbreak which resulted in the accidental creation of the beast.

Unlike most infected t-Virus creatures, the Giant Alligator grew in proportion and did not display any outward signs of infection (apart from its size) such as necrotic skin. However it was incredibly aggressive, although it is uncertain just how more aggressive than an ordinary alligator.

It attacked Claire Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy and Ada Wong as they searched the sewer system and was apparently indestructible - small arms fire did not affect the beast. All the survivors could do was run whenever the alligator spotted them.

The Giant Alligator met its end when it clamped onto a fuel tank with its powerful jaws and an astute Leon took the advantage and shot at the tank which resulted in a spark that ignited the fuel and caused a large explosion; this eliminated the creature.

A handful of other t-Virus infected alligators have been encountered around the world but none were as violent as the first.
