Arnold (surname not known) is a character from
Resident Evil Outbreak. He was a mercenary hired by Umbrella Corporation to join their Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service (U.B.C.S.) and sent into Raccoon City during the
t-Virus outbreak of 1998.
He led a small team of veteran mercenaries into the city in the evening and took out as many zombies and creatures they could find. They all remained in the city and survived the chaos. After a while, he received a communiqué from Tommy Nielsen saying that an Umbrella B.O.W. (Bio-Organic Weapon) called
Nyx had been stolen and that they must find a way to deal with it as it was a particularly powerful and experimental creature.
Instead of hunting for it, he dismissed the command and decided to hold position on an overpass bridge - there he and his team found a very successful vantage point to pick off zombies without much cause for concern. However, his lax nature caused him to shoot an innocent named
Linda Baldwin - and it was an accident which caused him to leave his weapon and abandon the position.
A short time after this, a radio message informed the team of the plan to level the city with a nuclear warhead - so he decided to quickly pull out of Raccoon City before it got hit. It's thought that after he evacuated, he and his team were removed from U.B.C.S. and went back on the mercenary market.
In the game he is treated like a boss encounter - he is located on the overpass in a sniping position and is shooting at the player. Interestingly he can be made to be completely absent from the game if the player decides on certain story actions.
Also, when unlocked as a playable character his characteristics are based on
Mark Wilkins. He is noted for having a very slow movement speed (almost half the default speed).
