Rodriguez (first name not known) is a character from
Resident Evil Outbreak. He wears tactical gear and tends to wear sunglasses.
He was a high-ranking member of the elite Umbrella Security Service (U.S.S.) and was dispatched along with a small team under his command to Raccoon City during the
t-Virus outbreak that occurred in late September 1998. His mission was to protect Umbrellas image, recover any data which could later incriminate them and attempt to limit the spread of the catastrophe.
However, once Rodriguez saw what the company had done to the city, he decided to ignore command and he headed off to an Umbrella-controlled shipping yard where he knew experimental B.O.W.s were being housed. One in particular, named
Nyx - he had his eye on. He flew a helicopter into the yard and picked up the shipping container with contained the monster - his idea was to flee from Raccoon City and demonstrate the creature to the world in order to show them what kind of illegal biological weapons research the company had been doing and just how advanced it was. This would ruin the company and as soon as they had heard news of the theft they immediately took steps to try and mitigate his action which included mobilising other units and giving them directives to recover
Nyx and prevent his escape.
Umbrella would not be successful and Rodriguez, along with other survivors and an Umbrella employee named
Linda Baldwin were about the evacuate when she remembered that she had left something important in a lab. Exasperated, Rodriguez allowed her to retrieve it but warned her that if she wasn't quick enough they would leave without it. Luckily, for everybody she returned with it in time and it was an experimental anti
t-Virus medication - an extremely useful tool to have on hand.
He eventually evacuated the city just in time to avoid the effects of the nuclear explosion with Linda and the
Nyx B.O.W.
What happened to them all is not known but it is assumed the
Nyx was either sold or donated, or Rodriguez simply kept it.
Another scenario occurs depending on what the player does which consists of the shipping container falling from the helicopter and releasing the
Nyx B.O.W. onto the ground which activates it and forces it to attack. He can also opt to leave
Linda Baldwin in Raccoon City.
Rodriguez can be unlocked as a playable character and shares characteristics with
David King.
