J'avo (a Serbian word meaning "Devil") is the name given to humans which have been directly injected with a strain of the C-Virus intravenously. It is seen a a form of superhuman enhancement to those that have been willing to take the virus. They differ from other infected such as C-Virus Zombies as their intelligence is mostly maintained after infection. At first, the C-Virus was simply tested on people by Neo Umbrella just to see what would happen - and to their surprise, the outcome was fairly positive. This gave them enough evidence to use them on their own forces.
Typically, J'avo resemble normal humans but with extra eyes, sharper teeth and increased strength and aggression. The eyes also protrude from the eye sockets, giving them a rather unsettling appearance. Due to their high intelligence, they are able to use handheld weapons such as knifes and even various firearms from pistols to automatic weapons to rocket launchers. Since they've retained the majority of their human aspects they continue to dress and work in teams - however the increased aggression will ultimately get the better of them.
What was discovered about the J'avo is that their infection made their bodies react to critical damage in extraordinary ways, which is similar to how the G-Virus works but with this infection there are rapid mutations that are localised to the general damaged area, rather than a full mutation. For example, a J'avo which has received catastrophic damage to the head can have their head mutate in multiple different ways. Or, if the same happens to an arm then the arm will mutate accordingly. The mutation is relatively random but there appear to be limits on the variations of them. Each one that has been observed so far has been given it's own name. it's also possible for J'avo to mutate into multiple forms at once if several different body parts have been damaged, so for example it is possible for a combination of a J'avo with a mutated head and arm.
There is also a final type of mutation which occurs in many C-Virus creatures which is where the J'avo quickly enters a Chrysalis (a cocoon, used for metamorphosis). The J'avo then evolves into a different creature. What emerges can differ and it is not known what kind of biological process are in place to select a new form, but they are extremely strong and dangerous. It is recommended to destroy the chrysalis as they enter this stage to prevent this.
