Marco Rose was a BSAA operative who served as the team leader of Bravo team alongside Chris Redfield who was in charge of Alpha team. Both teams were sent to Lanshiang, China responding to a bioterrorist attack by a group naming themselves Neo Umbrella. Their attack involved releasing the C-Virus into the area alongside various B.O.W.s (Bio-Organic Weapons) including an enormous Snake named the Iluzija. It also turned out in some sick twist of fate that Marco's father was in Tall Oaks, USA where another similar bioterrorist attack was occuring. It's not known what his fathers fate was.
Unfortunately the encounter with the Snake would be his final one; whilst hunting the creature his team became scattered and some of them were killed by the creature. Although he managed to help defeat Iluzija, shortly after he was hit with a C-Virus dart which incapacitated him instantly and he eventually turned into an insect-like creature named a Gnezdo. After Chris and the other surviving members of the BSAA defeated what he had become, they began to begin the hunt for the person responsible for shooting him; Carla Radames.
