Elena Lupu was a villager who lived in a cold, mountain area somewhere in Eastern Europe (thought to be Romania, or nearby). Before the area was ambushed by hordes of Lycans, she and her father
Leonardo Lupu had relatively simple lives and believed in a pagan cult named Cult of the Black God, created by
Mother Miranda (who they also deified) - unfortunately her father was attacked when the ambush occurred which forced her to stay with him and keep him safe, to the detriment of her own safety.
She and her father made it into an abandoned shelter and remained there while every other survivor made it into
Luiza's makeshift safehouse. They couldn't quite make it in there before the gate to entry was locked from the inside. Eventually,
Ethan Winters entered the shelter which startles them and after quickly learning that there are no enemies here, Ethan learns about the safehouse and then offers to venture back outside to try and find a way in.
Ethan succeeds, and managed to escort
Elena and her father through the gate. Upon trying the door of the property,
Elena is greeted with the barrel of
Iulian's shotgun, the guardsman of the property. Following close behind was
Luiza who soon ushered everybody inside, whilst also forcing
Iulian to leave and do a patrol of the grounds outside the gate.
After entering the safehouse,
Luiza escorts the three visitors into a living space where other survivors are being kept safe. Whilst some, such as
Anton are concerned that Leonardo has been allowed inside in his injured state, others welcome the three.
Elena joins in a small prayer but then her father suddenly takes a turn for the worst and it becomes clear that he is turning into a
Lycan - when he was attacked, the infection which they all have was transmitted and it just took some time to activate. He first starts a fire by knocking over an oil lantern and then he begins to turn on the survivors.
Leonardo kills almost everyone in the room within a few moments, whilst
Elena manages to get away. His attention then turns to Ethan who is knocked to the ground. However,
Elena manages to pick up a shotgun and she then shoots her father at point blank. Ethan tries to reason with
Elena that she did the right thing and that her father was already gone.
Ethan and
Elena manage to escape the room, lock the door behind them and then end up in the attached garage, and in the room is a pick-up truck in good working order. Whilst the fire is spreading, Ethan leaves her waiting by the vehicle while he finds a key.
Upon finding the key, Ethan returns to the truck and attempts to ram some interior walls down in order to escape. This doesn't quite work the way he intended, and the truck rolls onto its side, after only being driven a few yards. They climb the wreckage and walk along some ruined planks in order to reach a roof window via the attic space.
Despite being shot at point blank range, Leonardo manages to re-appear and even calls out to
Elena. This causes
Elena to stumble and think that maybe her father can be saved. Ethan holds out his arm intending to haul her back up to him but she remains in two minds - after the attic begins to collapse, she decides to remain with her father which causes them both to burn up in flames below.
It is not known is
Elena or Leonardo survived for any length of time after this, it is assumed that they both died fairly quickly, particularly
Elena who was thought to be uninfected.
