Jodie Mason was the wife of Harry Mason and adoptive mother of Cheryl Mason. She and Harry originally met at High School in their second year after she had a break-up with her previous boyfriend at the time. Eventually, they fell in love and then married and had many years of a strong and thoughtful relationship. Although she had an unspecified illness that prevented her from having children, they both soldiered on happily despite knowing they would never have a child to call their own.
After almost a decade together on a routine trip out they both happened upon an abandoned Baby at the side of the road - seeing this as a sign, they decided to adopt the Baby and named her Cheryl Mason. For a number of years they raised her as their own and they were happy.
However, Jodie's illness took a turn for the worse and she unfortunately lost her battle, surviving Harry and Cheryl. This took an enormous toll on Harry who mourned her passing for the rest of his days. Still, he managed to continue to raise Cheryl appropriately - but as she got older she began to notice his sadness and she eventually prompted him to take a break from his day-to-day life which resulted in their visit to Silent Hill.
Interestingly, in the Good+ ending of the original game, history will repeat itself where Harry and Cybil Bennett once again find an abandoned Baby on the side of the road - mirroring the experience he had with Jodie to the letter. The Baby was named Heather Mason and she herself would learn snippets about her 'mother' from Harry and when she was old enough she would set out on her own horror adventure.
