Grey Child

The Grey Child is a small but muscular child-like monster which wields a sharp kitchen knife. They will usually work in groups, charging head first swinging their blades, scratching and biting in order to take down their prey. They all laugh manically as they attack, and have also been observed jumping at their targets and latching in a child-like manner.

Their mouths encompass the majority of their heads which makes their faces look worm-like, and usually blood can be seen dripping from their mouths - a sign that they have a real lust for flesh and blood. They appear to have some sort of vision despite their being no visible eyes. There are folds of skin above their mouths which may hide their eyes. They also appear to have some sort of leather strap bound tightly around their chests which also wraps around their backs just below the shoulder blades.

The Grey Child may represent Alessa Gillespie's perception of her old classmates who bullied her incessantly. Evidence for this can be seen at the Middlewich Elementary School where Alessa was enrolled, with comments such as "Drop Dead" etched onto her school desk.

The Grey Children are notable because they are the first monsters which Harry Mason encounters (Harry is overwhelmed by a large group of them in a cramped alleyway and passes out. They're also noted for being the first types of enemy to use a tool as a weapon.

Also, in some territories (Europe, Japan) the Grey Child was seen as too child-like for censors - as such, they were removed from the game and replaced with a different monster design.
