Kipepeo (which is the Swahili word for "Butterfly") is a an advanced form of a Type 2
Plaga parasite - they do not reveal their true forms until their
Majini host has sustained significant damage.
Similarly to other advanced Type 2 and Type 3
Plaga forms, they emerge from the host body in a violent eruption - in this case the entire body is destroyed and the Kipepeo launches straight up into the air and begins to flap its two large wings in order to fly.
When transformed, they tend to follow other Kipepeo to form a flock and then descend on prey all at once, hoping to overwhelm them.
Appearance wise, they resemble a huge fleshy butterfly with a humanoid visage hanging upside-down below, complete with four long tendrils - and they use these tendrils to cut off blood supply to the head for a quick death.
Interestingly, they do not erupt from their hosts when indoors and simply die with the host if critical injury has been sustained- it may be that they can only emerge when it has identified open air above them. Of course, this is most likely for gameplay reasons.
