Gun Shop Kendo is the name of the company and weapon store located in Raccoon City run by Robert Kendo. He mainly ran the business by himself but on occasion he would collaborate with his brother on special commissions, such as the customised weapons used by S.T.A.R.S. members. Unfortunately the store was ransacked as the Raccoon City Outbreak started to occur, leaving the store virtually empty.
The store itself ran as a one-stop-shop for weaponry and accessories. You could purchase new weapons including handguns, rifles, shotguns and all kinds of ammunition. You could also have existing guns repaired or modified and you could also shop for related items such as flashlights and weapon parts. The majority of these items were on display in cabinets or as a self-serve product.
The store seemed to have some kind of affiliation with Umbrella Inc due to some signage being found. Also, the store was used as the meeting point for the Raccoon Shooting Club.
Outside the store a fairly large Gun Shop Kendo has been spotted, so it's possible that Kendo also made home deliveries around the city.
The owner stayed behind in store (possibly due to the fact that he had stockpiles of ammunition) but clumsily left the front door unlocked until a survivor (either Leon S. Kennedy or Claire Redfield depending on the selection in Resident Evil 2) went inside. Kendo's reaction also changes slightly depending on the character - he is a little more informal and chatty when speaking with Claire. Shortly after their introduction however he is killed by a small horde of zombies where they break through the front glass window of his store and devour him. He attempted to stop them with a blast from his shotgun but it was too late.
In the RE2 Remake, his story within the game is expanded and he survives long after his introduction, meeting his end where his infected daughter is about to succumb to the t-Virus and he decides to commit suicide shortly after killing her.
