The T-078 Tyrant is a unique version of Umbrellas most popular mass-produced Tyrant, the T-103. It was cloned directly from a T-103 embryo and was designed to be used without a Power Limiter. Umbrella created it as they were experimenting with developing a powerful B.O.W. (Bio-Organic Weapon) which did not need to rely on the Power Limiter which was a technological drawback.

Only a single T-078 is thought to have existed and it was delivered to Rockfort Island under the care of UBCS (Umbrella Biohazard Containment Service) soldier HUNK. When they arrived at the island it was kept in storage by Alfred Ashford who commanded the island.

It was released by Alfred when the H.C.F. raided the island and caused a t-Virus outbreak. The creature retained a human face and had roughly human proportions but its arms and hands had mutated into large, solid stumps which could be used to pummel and bash with immense power.

The creature was attacked by Claire Redfield and continually began to mutate the more injuries it sustained. Without the restrictions of a Power Limiter these mutations could continue to happen - where it’s hands would develop large claws and become even more dangerous than before.

It was lost when it fell from an aircraft at high altitude as it was travelling across the ocean. It’s not known whether it would have survived the fall, but either way it was destroyed by a missile.

No more T-078 models were produced as they were merely an Umbrella experiment which presumably the Rockfort Island incident gave them all of the data they required and then they discontinued the line.
