V-JOLT is a compound mixture developed by Umbrella Pharmaceuticals. It's designed solely as a powerful Herbicide product and has the ability to destroy most organic plant matter very quickly. It's also known to have been used on t-Virus infected plants such as Plant 42 and Plant 43 - in those cases the product merely weakens the plant and does not destroy it entirely.

The way it works is that it actively targets living cells in the plant and breaks down each one gradually, therefore killing the plant.

V-JOLT was needed during the Spencer Mansion incident, although it was not available directly - it had to be specially synthesised using a number of chemicals and water in a specific order. How the chemical is made differs depending whether you are playing the original Resident Evil / Director's Cut or Resident Evil (Remake). It's possible to put the wrong chemicals together and create a poisonous mixture that can harm you. The ultimate solution is to create a compound which has a chemical number of 20.

For example, Water is regarded as a 1, and there are other chemicals with names such as UMB No. 3 or Yellow-6.

In the original game, V-JOLT is a yellowish colour, whereas in the Remake it is a murky brown colour.
