Herbicide, which is also called "Chemical to use on plants" before using the Examine function is an item used in the Spencer Mansion in order to kill the Monster Plant, which blocks the way forward and attacks instinctively whenever somebody is near. Either Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine opens its contents and adds it to a nearby feeding system which will then contaminate the water and kill the creature.

It's simply a large bag of commercial herbicide, with the word "Earth" on the front of it. It's most likely full of Copper Sulphate which has the appearance of small blue crystals. Due to it's high copper concentration it's very toxic to plants as well as other fauna such as slugs and bacteria.

It's location varies depending on the game. In the original Resident Evil it is found in a storeroom, but in the Remake it's found in a wheelbarrow. Also, in the Remake it's also possible to make a mistake when distributing the herbicide and accidentally destroy some useful herbs.
