The Blob - which was a name given as a throwaway descriptor and not really intended to be their proper name. In truth, they've actually got several names - they're called the Guardians of Insanity and the Keepers of Madness. The name probably stems from the fact that their bodies look rather 'blob-ish' and they have no facial features whatsoever. The name has stuck since then.
They were
Fish-like creatures that dwelled underneath the Spencer Estate somewhere in Europe. They had been experimented on casually using a form of the
t-Virus and a combination of a human host and DNA of sea creatures. At first these experiments originated with
Oswell E. Spencer himself but as he advanced in age and became more infirm, he passed on certain responsibilities to his butler, Patrick.
While they were originally captives of the Spencer Estate, after their transformation they became fiercely loyal guardians of the underground areas.
Interestingly, their mouths appeared to be nothing more than a large maw filled with teeth (not unlike the
Molded created by
Eveline, albeit with more uniform teeth). Their muscles had also overdeveloped, particularly their upper arms and backs which looked to be filled with all kinds of tissue (and most likely where the name Blob comes from).
They carried enormous cross-shaped anchors around and used them as weapons, which demonstrated their tremendous strength.
