Molded was the name given to any mobile concentration of Mold, which was a type of weaponised fungus that was created by Eveline, otherwise known as E-001 which was a genetically engineered Bio-Organic Weapon (B.O.W.) which could control the Mold, infect living things with it and also had the ability to convert biomass into Molded.

They appeared as a tall human, covered in black, sticky fungus with what looked like a set of fleshy organs and a skeletal structive underneath designed to mimic a humans - so it's most likely that their form was based around this arrangement. Perhaps their most distinctive feature was their enormous mouth with incredibly sharp teeth, all of which were of different sizes and protruded at various angles. They also had empty eye sockets on the top of their heads, giving them a frightening appearance. As their outer covering of Mold functioned as their armour, once this was damaged enough or their head was destroyed the body would explode, quickly break down into Mold and eventually re-constitute itself once enough time has passed.

Their unique musculature gave them many advantages when it came to flexibility as they could snap their joints apart at will to extend their limbs and also the mouth could open to extreme lengths, paired with tremendous biting power. On the ends of their arms were clawed hands which could cause deep cuts and impale.

Unlike most B.O.W.s, Molded did not require a host body in order to exist. All that was needed was a large amount of Mold in an area and with this material the creature could develop - and they had just one aim - protect their master. They also had the ability to spread Mold as well as directly infect other organisms with it.

In terms of their intelligence, at first they may have seemed like your average bumbling Zombie they actually exhibited a degree of resourcefulness - for example they could work in groups to surprise a target, or being aware of their environment. Examples of this have been utilising large concentrations of Mold as a hiding place lying in wait for a victim, or having the ability to navigate cluttered areas or narrow spaces such as crawlspaces or air vents. Alas they still lacked in some ways as they could not understand the functions of devices such as doors, buttons or weapons.

There were also variations of Molded that could generate under certain conditions, these were as follows:
    • Fumer; Armoured versions of regular Molded which could not be damaged with normal arms fire and explosives would only cause them to drop to their knees for a moment. They were extremely vulnerable to RAMRODs (Anti-Regen Ammo), which were a newly developed type of 9mm round which contained anti-Mold substances. These beasts were engineered by Lucas Baker as experimental enhancements - they appeared much more symmetrical than naturally-occurring Molded with a much more human looking head without the large mouth and teeth. They also emitted a constant supply of fungal spores which is where they got their name.

    • Blade Molded; Almost the same as the regular Molded but instead of having two clawed arms they had one overdeveloped arm with what could only be described as an array of spiked swords which had the same extending properties as their other limbs. There was also a further mutated Blade Molded which had both arms with spiked swords.

    • Four-Legged Molded; Spider-like creatures that ran on all fours and jumped at their victims. Their body appears similar to the Licker with as their head now appeared more symmetrical along with their body appearing more balanced - these mutations were most likely to improve their agility. However they were also extremely weak to damage, often being dispatched by one gunshot but do to their speed a scattergun approach would have been recommended.

    • Fat Molded; A Molded with much more biomass than normal which appeared as a heavy, bloated beast. They had the ability to vomit a corrosive substance and even had the ability to trigger their bodies to explode if they felt the need to do so. Also, counter to their appearance they also could move at extremely fast speeds so these variants were extremely dangerous. Thankfully, due to their rarity it's likely that only a handful areas with an extreme amount of Mold and biomass existed so not many had the chance to develop.

    • Mama Mold; Similar to the Fumer this hulking creature could not be harmed with regular fire and their only vulnerability were the RAMRODs. It was found in the salt mines in an area full of Mold and biomass. Initially the area spawned many types of Molded en masse but as Chris Redfield explored the area and defeated them all, Mama Mold was then produced. The creature was very tall but was ultimately defeated and no other variants were ever seen.

    • Molded Alligator; Simply regular American Alligators which had become infected with the Mold which became super aggressive. Their mutation caused them to increase in size and their teeth became larger and more random which was highly characteristic of Molded.

    • Little Crawler; Tiny, Spider-like Molded with very simple bodies and functions. They served as 'children' to Mama Mold in which they simply ran and jumped at their targets in large groups. They were the weakest of all Molded creatures in which any damage would destroy them.

    • Man-Eating Insect; Small insects created by Marguerite Baker who experimented on regular insects such as moths, flies and mosquitos. They took commands from their master and could also nest and reproduce in nests, including a specialised nest located on her own body. Due to their Mold mutations they grew larger, more intelligent and much more aggressive and dangerous.

    • Man-Eating Spider; These creatures also existed which appeared like regular spiders and were used by Marguerite as obstacles, often signalling the spiders to clump together over doors and cupboards to force them closed. If threatened, they could jump at their assailant and hurt them.

    • The entire Baker family (save for Joe Baker) could also be classed as types of Molded also, as their mutations were caused by the Mold. Especially Jack Baker who managed to rebuild his body various times. Zoe Baker was the only member of the family which was able to find a cure for the condition.
