Lucas Baker was the son of
Jack Baker and
Marguerite Baker, brother of
Zoe Baker and nephew of Jacks older brother
Joe Baker. He and his family all lived together in a large property apart from his uncle Joe, who lived alone. He was a young but troubled individual who even before
Eveline came along had sadistic tendencies along with other mental issues. When he was younger his parents bribed him with a new jigsaw puzzle to coax him into getting his brain scanned to check for any abnormalities.
It's highly likely that the doctors couldn't see anything enough to diagnose him with anything specific, but Lucas shared a lot of similarities with serial killers. For example, he had created a list on his computers notes program called the "Fuck-You List" where he shared an event with "Fuck You!" at the end of each line, for example his father Jack beating him for checking his phone at the dinner table, or his sister Zoe calling him a pervert for watching her do yoga exercises.
He was also highly technical and could produce gadgets and contraptions of all shapes and sizes. For example, he created a remote-control lock for the attic in his house which was disguised as a lamp, trapped one of his school bullies in there as a punishment for making fun of his mental issues, causing him to die of hunger. The bully was never found by the authorities or his parents who presumably reported him as missing.
In 2014, the Baker family was turned upside down when a hurricane brought a shipwreck to their land and Lucas was the first to investigate. He returned with his father and they both found
Mia Winters and
Eveline and brought them back to the house in ill-fated an attempt to keep them safe.
Eveline was an experimental Bio-Organic Weapon which could assert control over a fungus known as Mold, which in turn could control any person the Mold was infected with. People infected also gained supernatural abilities – in Lucas' case, he gained superior healing – and was able to restore entire limbs.
The infection of the family began gradually, starting with Jack. He in turn brought Lucas directly to
Eveline who had since requested that Lucas meet her and accept her gift. However, at some point Lucas was contacted by member of The Connections who were the syndicate responsible for
Eveline's creation. They offered him a special serum that removed
Eveline's control over him but allowed him to retain his abilities, in exchange for him providing intel on his family to them – which they needed as scientific research.
He began working closely with several researchers working for The Connections, building intricate puzzle rooms which often resulted in the participants death. Eventually he betrayed the syndicate by killing all the researchers and locking their bodies in a room where they would eventually become
Molded which were creatures that spawned from large amounts of Mold, but any organic material such as dead humans could also transform into the creatures.
At some point when cameraman for the Sewer Gators crew,
Clancy Jarvis attempted to escape his doom he was taken by Lucas to participate in a deadly form of Blackjack named 21 with an anonymous captive named
Hoffman where losing would have disastrous consequences such as losing fingers, electrocution and eventually a circular saw through the face. All of the setup and technical wizardry was conducted by Lucas whose sadism only got more intense as he gained his new abilities. Once Clancy won the card game, he set up an unwinnable challenge for the poor victim which resulted in the cameraman's death.
After some time,
Ethan Winters arrived at the property to find his missing wife Mia and was later captured by Jack and brought to a dinner setting. Lucas was present at the table with Jack and his mother Marguerite where he threw pieces of food at Ethan, eventually throwing a plate. For his apparent lack of etiquette Jack got up out of his chain and cut Lucas' hand clean off only for Lucas to protest "not again!" After the family exited the room to investigate a caller at their front door, Ethan used the opportunity to escape.
Once Ethan had found his missing wife Mia – on multiple occasions after he did so Lucas managed to get the drop on Ethan and re-capture Mia. He also kidnapped his sister Zoe, who was helping Ethan navigate the Baker estate through a series of phone calls.
As he liked his puzzles, he set various challenges for Ethan to complete such as setting up an elaborate electronic door lock where two key cards; red and blue, were needed to unlock the door where Ethan could then access the barn area where Lucas was hiding out.
Once Ethan made it to the barn, Lucas decided to unleash all of his traps and
Molded creatures on him, including the same unwinnable puzzle which killed Clancy – but Ethan managed to defeat the system and escape which frustrated Lucas to no end which caused him to light a stick of dynamite and throw it at Ethan – but was scuppered when Ethan simply threw the dynamite back in his direction, since it still had some fuse left. After this embarrassment, Lucas fled into some nearby salt mines.
After
Eveline was destroyed by Ethan and Blue Umbrella,
Chris Redfield was sent into the salt mines with a small team to eliminate the last remaining infected Baker – Lucas. The entire area was blanketed in E-Type fungal spores which would eventually infect anyone that breathed enough of them in, so Chris and his team needed to use oxygen in order to progress.
Lucas was still up to his old tricks and captured several of the Blue Umbrella soldiers, baiting Chris to come and save them and subsequently killed a handful of the soldiers using various methods such as explosives and mechanical saws. He attempted to kill Chris with a small timed bomb attached to his arm but the device was rendered inert when Chris managed to freeze it with liquid nitrogen which also allowed him to remove the device safely.
Shortly after, Lucas was preparing to send an encrypted message to an unknown source regarding a plethora of knowledge and intel about
Eveline and her Mold abilities. Chris soon apprehended him but soon had to give chase, finally ending with Lucas being shot in the chest by the Blue Umbrella soldier. This triggered Lucas' mutations and he quickly transformed into a hulking Mold monster, looking more like an enhanced
Molded with absolutely no bi-lateral symmetry to speak of and covered in random growths. Although powerful, this new creature was a complete abomination and was soon dispatched by Chris, ending his life with a blast to the face with his Albert-02 "Thor's Hammer" shotgun, a weapon designed using research from Chris' late adversary
Albert Wesker which used anti B.O.W rounds.
Lucas was defeated and Chris managed to destroy the formers computer system before the message with
Eveline's data could be sent, it's unknown who he was intending to send the information to - although it's rumoured that Umbrella – thought to be defunct - may have been the recipient.
