Zoe Baker is the daughter of Jack Baker and Marguerite Baker, sister to Lucas Baker and the niece of Joe Baker. She lived on a large property in Dulvey, Louisiana with the bulk of her family - only Joe lived elsewhere.

Until 2014, Zoe and her family lived normal lives - going to work, going to school, involving themselves in the community and living together as a family. However once Eveline and Mia Winters were brought into the property following a hurricane which wrecked a tanker they were both travelling on, everything started to change. The family weren't aware at the time, but Eveline was actually an experimental Bio-Organic Weapon with control over a fungus called Mold and telepathic powers where she could influence or completely take control of anyone with a Mold infection. Mia was her handler at the time.

Mia was placed by the family in a mobile trailer which Zoe resided in on the property while she recovered, and Eveline took a room in the main house. After a short time Eveline caused a power outage and Zoe left her trailer to investigate what had happened only to find her brother Lucas unconscious on the floor, and later encountered her mother who had begun to be influenced by Eveline's Mold, turning more monstrous and attempting to feed Zoe insects which crawled out of her mouth.

Jack, yet to be fully controlled by Eveline rescued his daughter from the insane housewife and instructed Zoe to get some rope to restrain Marguerite. However on her return, Jack had fallen to the control and now was trying to drown his wife in the bathtub. He also carved his chest open as a power-play to show that he had finally succumbed to Eveline's control, which he and the family referred to as a 'gift', and then as Zoe made her escape Jack began to take an unwilling Lucas to Eveline in order for him to accept her 'gift' also.

Zoe retreated to her trailer in which she found Mia along with a letter, where she learned a great deal about Eveline's origins and also a D-Series Head, which was a product with similar composition to Eveline that had the potential to become a cure to her 'gift'. This knowledge prevented Zoe from being controlled by Eveline as now she was fully aware of her motivations - to have a large family of her own, through control.

She began living as an outcast from her trailer, her family simply acted passively towards her for the most part as she was already infected with Mold and saw no reason to antagonise her. She was not allowed to leave however, and could not access certain parts of the property - specifically the rooms where other D-Series parts were which were the other vital products needed to construct the serum to undo the infection she and her family had. In her trailer she found a D-Series Head.

So instead of actively attempting to find the cure herself, she worked with escaped captives by telephoning them at certain points of their escape, assisting and pointing them in the right direction in order to save them and her family. Nobody she talked to managed to get very far, as her father Jack was one of the strongest members of the family and he was often the first to catch up with the would-be heroes.

That all changed when Ethan Winters came to the house to find his missing wife who happened to be Mia - and she, as before, assisted him via telephone calls. She also re-attached his severed hand while Ethan was regaining consciousness after a short fight with his wife who was under Eveline's influence, and placed a device called a Genome Codex on his wrist.

Ethan eventually happened upon Zoe's trailer once he escaped the main house. Inside was a comfortable living arrangement featuring a bed, kitchen area, a selection of clothes, food, a tv set and plenty of storage boxes. She also had a collection of powerful items in cages which could be unlocked with Antique Coins.

After he collected the D-Series Arm, she instructed Ethan to return to the trailer to meet her in person where they could then synthesise the serum. However her brother Lucas got there first and kidnapped his sister along with Mia, then made a phone call to Ethan once he arrived explaining to him what the next steps would be, and where he was - an array of deadly puzzles had to be beaten in order for Ethan to get to Zoe and his wife.

Surprisingly to Lucas, Ethan managed to defeat his traps and subsequently threw back a stick of dynamite that Lucas intended for him, causing the Brute to make his escape into some nearby salt mines where he had set up a makeshift base.

Ethan soon found Zoe and Mia at the boathouse, where he was finally able to meet her in person and create a few vials of the serum. One was intended for Zoe herself, and the other for Mia. However, a heavily mutated Jack burst onto the scene and tried to kill Ethan - and a long battle ensued, culminating in Zoe telling Ethan to inject Jack with the serum, as it would instantly rid his body of an infection which by this point was his entire body. Reluctantly, he injected the monster with it, which caused it to rapidly calcify and then die.

Zoe now had to try to convince Ethan to give her the last injection, as it was her that helped him escape and it was her ultimate goal. Ultimately, Ethan gave it to his wife leaving Zoe feeling utterly betrayed and extremely angry. Zoe was not seen again by Ethan or Mia as she was soon calcified directly by Eveline as a punishment for helping the husband and wife team escape the property. She was kept alive however, so she was literally locked in her own body with no way to move or speak.

When Ethan managed to escape with the help of Blue Umbrella, he asked their leader Chris Redfield to return to the property and help Zoe. He dispatched his team to cover the area in an attempt to find her and after a long period of searches she was found, but the team soon encountered Joe Baker, her uncle. He instantly recognised the Umbrella logo and saw them as a threat, thinking they were the same Umbrella that unleashed the t-Virus amongst other things. He captured a soldier and took them with Zoe back to his cabin.

Joe learned of a cure to Zoes condition and set out a journey through the marshland in an attempt to get it. Fighting Molded creatures and an extremely powerful monster called the Swamp Man (who turned out to be Jack Baker returning from the dead once again) - he eventually managed to get enough of a cure together to heal her.

As Zoe was calcified throughout everything all she could do was be a passenger but was eventually cured with the help of Joe and Blue Umbrella, the latter of which monitored her condition as the serum worked its way through her body. She later received a phone call from Ethan checking up on her, in which she thanked him for sending help and finally getting her that cure she so desperately needed.
