Jack Baker was born in Louisiana and had an older brother named
Joe Baker. When he completed his education, he signed up for military service by joining the US Marines and at a similar point in time also became the owner of a large plot of land on the water containing a large mansion, lavish gardens, another smaller building named the 'Old House' and a separate guest house.
After his time in the Marines he met his future wife
Marguerite Baker and then started a family having two children – first a son who they named
Lucas Baker and later a daughter named
Zoe Baker.
In 2014 a hurricane hit the area which damaged Jack's property and also caused a nearby ship to crash and beach itself onto some marshland that was connected to his land. Jack decided to check it out to asses the damage and found two survivors – Mia Winter and
Eveline and took them both into his home in order to nurse them back to health.
Little did he know that
Eveline was in fact an experimental Bio-Organic Weapon (E-001) and Mia was in fact her caretaker and worked for a Bio-Weapon crime group named The Connections which has links to The Organization (and therefore H.C.F.) which notorious B.O.W. black market supremo
Albert Wesker worked for, and they all had a hand in
Eveline's development.
Eveline's power was over a fungal substance called Mold. Anybody infected by it and in her presence could be controlled by her – and over time can gain supernatural abilities. When she first began influencing Jack, he began attempting to kill his wife Marguerite by submerging her head under water, drowning her.
As
Eveline's effects became more pronounced, the less human Jack and his family (except Zoe and Joe) became and eventually the family were pronounced dead by their local parish, although occasional sightings of the Bakers gave rise to a reputation that the Baker residence was a haunted house, and that their appearances were ghostly.
What
Eveline wanted was for her family to expand. She had the Bakers, but she wanted more. Jack was the most powerful of the family and so she chose him to go out into the wilds and find victims to kill them and then bring them back to a custom built dissection room under their mansion and then stored in order for their bodies to take on a large amount of Mold that was in the area and subsequently becoming raging beasts known as
Molded.
Jack Baker and his family were considered victims despite everything they had done, as
Eveline was controlling them at all times. It has been confirmed that none of them wanted to do anything they had done, and Jack in particular expressed deep remorse in his actions.
When
Ethan Winters arrived on Jacks property to rescue his wife Mia, he was allegedly spotted on various occasions around the guest house stalking him, only closing in on Ethan once he had reconnected with his wife and then Jack knocked him out, dragged him to the mansion, tied him up and began a ritual with the rest of his family at a dinner setting. Essentially attempting to feed him cooked human organs – which was a way for
Eveline to begin controlling people or turn them into
Molded, expanding her wishes for a family.
Ethan refused to eat, despite Jack putting a knife in his mouth. This was interrupted when Deputy
David Anderson knocked on their front door, causing Jack and Lucas to investigate and leave the area. Despite Ethan managing to break free from his bonds and escape the room, Jack returned and began storming towards Ethan at a relentless pace, attempting to kill him – even bursting through solid walls, showcasing his incredible power.
Jack was also incredibly sadistic – if Ethan was caught by Jack in the laundry room, a unique scenario plays where Jack will cut off Ethan's leg, throw him to the other side of the room and then place a health mead onto the floor by his side whilst beckoning Ethan to come and get it, essentially toying with him. In most cases this scenario doesn't happen and Ethan manages to make his way through a trap door under the floorboards, causing Jack to laugh and simply state that he will get him later.
Later, when Ethan meets Deputy Anderson in the Baker's garage, Jack shows his true crazy colours by sneaking up behind the officer with an old shovel and splitting his skull in two. Then he hijacks Ethan's car which was parked in the garage, rips off the roof like it was tin foil and then damages the car by driving into walls, eventually starting a fire in which he himself sets alight, and he soon collapses.
Ethan tries to escape the area up a ladder only to find Jack still alive, smiling – and he says "You're about to see something wonderful" and then fact forces a gun into his own mouth and pulls the trigger, blowing a hole in the side of his head.
Jack later comes back from the dead and surprises Ethan and grabs him, with his head still healing from the gunshot – and begins trying to attack with a spiked tool. After this point Ethan encounters Jack all around the house, and he is virtually unstoppable. Gunshots to any part of the body do damage to Jack, but he soon wakes up and continues his onslaught. It all came to a point where Ethan manages to track down Jack to a basement area.
Here, Jack began talking to the dead body of Deputy Anderson which he placed here as per
Eveline's wishes – but he started to say that he was worried that
Eveline wants to replace him with Ethan at some point, and that the Deputy will help him get rid of him.
A short time later, Jack pushed Ethan down into an arena where he started to attack him with a ridiculous home-made pair of shears with two chainsaws attached to each 'arm'. His massive strength was again showcased here as he had the power to easily control such a device, as well as take a lot of damage, occasionally falling to his knees and going through a rapid healing process which culminated in a huge growth spurting from his chest, forcing his neck back – this growth acted as a weak point, but he soon recovered and continued to try and attack Ethan.
Ethan managed to find a regular chainsaw of his own to fight back with, eventually causing so much damage to Jack that even his enhanced body could not handle it and his upper body exploded in a shower of blood and guts, leaving only his lower half – which somehow managed to stand on two feet and walk a short distance before they 'died' and all the remaining blood and guts spilled out onto the floor.
Jack Baker was not dead however, his mutation allowed him to regenerate once more – but because the damage was so large and most of his organic material was gone, he returned not as a man but as a monster – much larger, covered in eyes and black Mold – looking more like a lizard. His personality was still there, but not quite the same – he began rambling about how Ethan had destroyed everything and pulled his family apart. However, Ethan somehow managed to defeat him one last time by damaging all of his eyes and then injecting him with a special anti-fungal Serum which solidified his body and caused him to die.
An unprecedented and incredible set of circumstances happened after this. Jack returned one last time – at a point in time where
Eveline was no longer in control. He was a much different beast and acted purely on his own with no external influence, only his twisted mutations kept him alive but his mind was lost. He mutated into a rotting
Zombie-like creature nicknamed the Swamp Man, where he was covered in Mold, including his face which hid his true identity. He was again capable of rapid healing, even regenerating from a decapitation.
Eventually Jacks face was revealed when his brother Joe who was in the area attempting to cure Zoe from a Mold-related illness began fighting him without knowing what it was, until he peeled away the Mold from his face and when he realised it was his brother Jack, the shock stalled him and from there, Jack took the upper hand and defeated him.
Once Joe got to grips with the situation, he knew there was no saving his brother. Using a special gauntlet called the AMG-78, which is a device which can destroy most Mold-based creatures in one hit. After taking a hit from the weapon, Jacks upper body exploded once more – and that was the end of the road, the weapon nullified any chance of regeneration. Dead.
Jack Baker was the most tormented soul of the family – all he wanted to do before his vile transformation was to help his country, help his family and then help others in his community.
He also appears in a mini-game called Jack's 55th Birthday where you play as
Mia Winters and the goal is to keep bringing Jack food and drink to increase his satisfaction within a time limit. Jack himself wears a party outfit with fake glasses and a red nose, while enemies in the world wear party hats and all the weapons shoot confetti.
