At the time of his death, Clancy Jarvis (Incorrectly localised as Clancy Javis in the game) worked with a film crew as cameraman for an internet-based show named Sewer Gators, where they would investigate paranormal places. His first and last project was the Dulvey Haunted House in Dulvey, Louisiana.
He was accompanied with the shows host
Peter Walken and the producer
Andre Strickland. He captured the raw footage for the show which could then be edited at a later date. The trio broke into the supposedly Haunted House, and quickly Andre disappeared - as soon as this happened their intentions turned from filming a show to finding their friend and leaving.
After
Peter finds a hidden handle in a fireplace, a secret door opens to his right which features a back room area and a ladder descending to an unknown place. Clancy climbs down this ladder under
Peter instruction and at the bottom he finds a figure which appears to be Andre with his back turned.
Clancy approached the figure, and it was Andre with his face impaled on a broken pipe, serving as a makeshift hook.
Jack Baker then approaches Clancy and attacks him, not killing him but leaving him unconscious.
When he regained consciousness he found that he was bound to a chair alongside his colleague
Peter, who tried to help the pair escape but the two were suddenly attacked by a deranged
Mia Winters who was under
Eveline's influence - she first began stabbing
Peter repeatedly with a knife, and then she stabbed Clancy in the leg. Then she decapitated
Peter and then continued to attack Clancy.
At some point Clancy manages to escape Mia but was later apprehended by
Lucas Baker, who knocks him unconscious once again. He awakens to a twisted version of Blackjack being played between him and another person named
Hoffman who's head is covered in a burlap bag. Lucas forces them to play a deadly variant of the card game where anybody that scores higher than 21 loses their life.
Hoffman loses and appears to be dead, with Lucas continuing to play the sick game by controlling
Hoffman's body like a marionette. Hoffmsn regains consciousness briefly but is killed for good by Lucas who attacks him with a saw.
For his next game, Lucas sets Clancy up in a special rigged room where finding the solution would allow him to continue living - the room is filled with many traps and obstacles, and incidentally Clancy begins a chain of events that end in a large fireball and explosion which burns him alive, killing him.
Ethan Winters later ends up in the same room and can spot Clancy's burned body at the entrance.
The footage Clancy recorded was obtained and put onto various VHS cassettes.
