Zealot (Staff) is a type of
Los Illuminados member which seemingly have some sort of leadership position and can direct small groups of Zealots on what to do. Some also hold sacred objects such as the Crimson Lantern, which
Leon S. Kennedy must take from one in order to proceed through the castle area.
They are identified with their long red robes, complete with a headdress made from the skull of a
Goat. They appear to be much taller than they actually are, due to the fact that the skull draws the eye; in actual fact, their heads are hidden beneath their robes.
Interestingly, they have the ability to communicate with any
Plaga which is nearby, even an immature one. Due to
Leon and
Ashley Graham only having immature Plagas in their system at the time of their encounters, they can only disorient them briefly. However, infected which have a more mature
Plaga such as the Zealots which surround them, they can force their Plagas to mutate early into forms such as the
Plaga Guadaña.
In combat, they are rather unimpressive - as they are more leaders than combatants, their tactic is to remain behind their Zealots and direct the flow of battle.
