The
Plaga Arana is the resulting abomination which occurs when a mature
Plaga latches onto the back of a
Ganado or Soldier, which allows them to forcibly take over the host and any
Plaga currently residing in the system. The transformation occurs within a few seconds and appears to be extremely painful for the host.
When combining itself with the host it will jump onto its back, disable the host and then stab the body in critical locations with its tendrils which take over the nervous system by force. From here, it will rapidly override the brain and then control the body from its back. The main disadvantage of this method of parasitic infection is that the
Plaga has to remain on its back externally and has no way to fully integrate itself - to this end, it can be targeted and shot off.
Due to the speed of the infection, the host does not gain any special abilities. As such, they are relatively easy to deal with. However, there are occasions where many 'loose'
Plaga can appear which could potentially infect any number of
Ganado or Soldier in the area - so it is very important to kill those first.
Occasionally the
Plaga can survive this but only for a short time - in occasions like this, it can skitter around like a
Spider, searching for a new host.
