The Jabberwock S3 was a variant of the experimental
Bandersnatch B.O.W. (Bio-Organic Weapon) which was originally designed by Umbrella Corporation. Although the
Bandersnatch was considered a failed experiment, its data was somehow leaked and picked up by an unknown competitor, developed and then sold to the highest bidder.
As with the
Bandersnatch, its name comes from the works of Lewis Carroll, specifically the poem Jabberwocky. In the poem, it loosely describes aspects of some kind of monster with sharp teeth and claws - in some versions it is depicted as a dragon, although really it is up to the readers imagination.
Using the t-Veronica virus, the B.O.W. developed into what could have potentially been the most powerful version of the
Bandersnatch. This time, both of its human arms had been transformed into muscular sickles and the rest of its body gained a thick, lizard-like hide. It also gained extra limbs with more sharp blades.
Unfortunately the monster appeared to be quite disfigured, with an asymmetrical body, horribly distorted face and various openings across its skin. It also had an enlarged, exposed heart which sat on the left side of its chest.
Interestingly, it still retained some human intelligence and could carry out tasks if needed, making it quite a useful, albeit expensive B.O.W.
It's also worth mentioning that a lot of the physical characteristics of the Jabberwock S3 appear to be based on the Mutated
Steve Burnside monster. It can be surmised that the data could have also included aspects of that mutation also.
"S3" could refer to the version number of the B.O.W. Or it could be the fact that it has three extra limbs on its back with sickle-shaped features.
