The Hunter µ was essentially a miniaturised version of the
Hunter R. They allegedly had the exact same specifications of the standard model albeit their smaller size.
It's uncertain how they were created, but it's likely that the development involved isolating the growth hormone and restricting it. This would have been extremely difficult as one of the main properties of the
t-Virus when creating a B.O.W. (Bio-Organic Weapon) is to increase its mass and size.
Quite a few were created and were stored in the Umbrella R&D Center, presumably waiting to be sold. Unfortunately, due to the
t-Virus outbreak that occurred around September of 1998, the entirety of Raccoon City was decimated, including all Umbrella properties. This meant that the Hunter µ's were set free and were roaming the facility looking for blood.

Carter decided to set a unique B.O.W., an experimental iteration of the Tyrant project - named the
Tyrant R. He had instructed it to eliminate the remaining Hunters it could find. While it did help initially, the creature soon turned on its master and laid waste to him.
It's not thought either the
Hunter R or the Hunter µ continued development after the Raccoon City incident, although the Hunter project itself would be continually iterated on for many years to come. However, we have not seen anything like the Hunter µ since.
