The Velociraptor (or simply Raptor) is a relatively small theropod dinosaur which, along with all other dinosaurs became extinct millions of years ago. However, due to experiments with Third Energy, they were brought to the present from a rift in space-time - where they, along with other creatures and flora were unwillingly transported from the past.
Raptors are extremely aggressive and will stalk anything that they perceive to be either a threat or prey. They are extremely common throughout Ibis Island and other places where time has been altered. There are multiple types of Raptor each with slightly different abilities such as the common brown type, along with stronger blue and red variants.
When they engage with an enemy, they will first hiss to signify that they have chosen a target. Then, they will sprint towards them and either bite and claw at their flesh, or lunge at them, knocking them to the ground where they will then proceed to attempt to eat them. Interestingly, they are able to navigate man-made facilities reasonably well such as being able to negotiate hallways and do things such as open doors.
Additionally, Raptors are occasionally encountered in packs where they will most likely overwhelm their prey. They will always eat their prey as soon as they are killed.
Interestingly, the Raptors featured in the game seem to be based more on the ones from Jurassic Park, rather than a more realistic depiction. This is because it has since been discovered that Velociraptors were tiny, about the size of a turkey and more of a ditzy, subdued animal - whereas in this game and the movie they are larger than a human and a serious predator.
