The Modified
Licker (sometimes referred to as Evolved
Licker) was a chemically altered version of the
Licker, developed by Umbrella scientists in the NEST facility.
It is most likely that they were created by accident, as their transformation stems from exposure to P-Epsilon gas (also known as UMB No. 21) which was designed as a toxic gas which could eliminate the
t-Virus. However, in the case of the
Licker it increased the mutation level rather than killing them. The most likely explanation for this is that the
Licker is so vastly mutated already that the
t-Virus no longer responds to the gas the same way it would in its basic, lab-developed form.
After mutation, the Modified
Licker develops a tough skin and large scythe-like claws at the end of their hands. Their tongue becomes shorter but more dangerous and they are generally more difficult to kill than their standard versions.
