Infected Rat

A common Rat infected with a virus, most commonly the t-Virus or the C-Virus. In most appearances, their appetite simply becomes more ravenous and their bodies exhibit standard characteristics of a t-Virus or C-Virus infection such as increased strength, an endless appetite for flesh and necrotising body tissues.

However their most frightening ability is their innate ability to spread infection, which is something all rats are capable of regardless.

Interestingly, it was the Rat which caused the main t-Virus outbreak in Raccoon City where they infested the sewer system that connected the entire city. Eventually they were outclassed by the more violent mutated creatures that came after such as cockroaches or other monsters that plagued the area.

In one of the DLC packages for, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard it is possible to collect three dead rats in exchange for an in-game achievement. It's there as a simple item finding minigame and serves no other purpose.
