T-A.L.O.S. - full name Tyrant-Armored Lethal Organic System, also known as Talos was developed by the Arklay Laboratory team of Umbrella in response to the Nemesis T-Type which was under development by a different team. The team had recently completed prototyping the T-002 Tyrant and had been concerned with the lack of control they had on the creature. The major issue was the rapid brain damage which occurred some time after creation; with the Nemesis T-Type the NE-a Parasite was used to replace the brain function which was a solution.

The Arklay team however decided on a different approach; they decided to use cybernetics and computers which would theoretically allow the Tyrant to be remotely controlled either by a team of people or by the Red Queen A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) which at that time was located in the Arklay Laboratory also. In the development stage the creature was given the designation T-011; this would in the future simply refer to the biological form that served as the core of the design.

Then they decided to approach another of the Tyrants inherent weaknesses; their flesh and their mutations. To combat this, the team created a full suit of armour which was equipped with ballistic weaponry; they also implanted the body of the Tyrant with various implants in order to augment its abilities. At this stage of development Talos was more akin to a walking tank than anything seen before - from Umbrellas point of view, it was becoming extremely positive.

Unfortunately for the Arklay team the project was stalled when a t-Virus outbreak occurred in the lab which intended throughout the area; the laboratory and the Spencer Mansion above were decimated when almost all of its inhabitants were turned into Zombies and a deluge of other B.O.W.s were released or escaped. This prompted what remained to escape with their research. As the Talos project now became the pet project of Umbrellas founder Oswell E. Spencer, he wanted it safely removed and entrusted his most loyal partner Sergei Vladimir to remove it and transfer it to a protected facility - and it was moved to an offshore facility in Russia. The Red Queen A.I. was also moved there so it could continue to be computer controlled.

Although Umbrella was now haemorrhaging cash and it had multiple lawsuits all but destroying its name, Sergei vowed to continue development of the Talos. The Russian facility was not as well-equipped as Arklay and its main purpose was so mass-produce poor quality B.O.W.s based off obsolete research. Once the Talos was completed, it was was pitted against a military unit along with an attack helicopter which it made short work with - there was not even a scratch on its armour plating.

When the facility was explored by Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield, Talos was unleashed once more only this time it became unstuck; after being severely damaged it began to mutate in a typical Tyrant fashion, although the armour prevented it from mutating completely out of control. In its mutated form it rises into the air and attaches itself to the core Red Queen computer system in order to directly interface; however it was soon defeated by the duo and soon after the Red Queen A.I. was erased by Albert Wesker, ending the Talos - the research was also lost as it was stored on the same system.
