Ben Bertolucci

Ben Bertolucci was a freelance investigative journalist who became caught up in the Spencer Mansion incident when he decided to take it upon himself to investigate the reports of strange murders and cannibalism around the Arklay Mountains. He was one of the first people to realise that something shady was happening between the Raccoon City Police Department (specifically the RPD chief Brian Irons) and Umbrella - little did he know Umbrella were directly funding the S.T.A.R.S. team of elites that were based in the RPD amongst other things to line Brian's pockets.

Once Brian caught wind of Ben sniffing around he immediately ordered for his arrest and incarceration - he ended up in a holding cell in the RPD building pending further interrogation. While he was awaiting his fate, a t-Virus outbreak occurred in Raccoon City which completely destroyed the town and turned almost all of it's inhabitants into Zombies, including the police officers. It's not known whether he attempted to leave his cell or preferred to stay between it's relatively safe walls. In his incarceration he did manage to leave some evidence of what had been happening which allowed others to continue their own separate investigations.
