Marquez was a Blue Umbrella soldier, who descended into a mine with two other colleagues attempting to locate
Lucas Baker - the mind was his last known location. However, Lucas was extremely fastidious, cunning and set traps for the trio.
All three were captured by Lucas and were booby trapped with deadly devices. Marquez and his men are reported missing by their handler, and later
Chris Redfield who is another member of Blue Umbrella is sent into the mine to find and hopefully rescue his colleagues.
Marquez is later found by Chris, trapped between wooden beams wired with explosives. Once Chris finds a way to set Marquez free the duo attempt to find the rest of the team believing them to be alive. However, one thing they did not expect - Marquez had a separate bomb attached to his body which subsequently detonated, killing him.
Chris survived the explosion, but unfortunately his other colleagues did not survive their entrapment.
Marquez's first name is never mentioned, and even his last name is only mentioned by Chris if the player fails the mission by causing his death from failing to disable the first trap.
