Older than most members of the team, Kenneth J. Sullivan previously worked as a chemist, and this was exactly why Wesker enlisted him to join. He was initially puzzled as to why somebody with his background would be needed on a special forces team.
Field Scout for S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team, he and the other members were dispatched to the Arklay Mountains to investigate a number of reported rabid animal attacks, and due to the fact that their helicopter lost control and crashed, the team stumbled upon the
Spencer Mansion to escape.
The S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team arrived to investigate why the helicopter crashed, and also entered the Mansion. Moments after doing so, Kenneth was attacked and killed by a
Zombie (unofficially named
Turning Around Zombie), and would be the first
Zombie that
Chris Redfield and
Jill Valentine would encounter. In fact, the gunshot heard at the beginning of the game is from this very incident.
In the original game, he is carrying 2 Magazines for the handgun, and in the remake, he carries a videotape which, when played, shows how he died.
He can also be found in two different conditions depending on how the player reacts to the gunfire. If the player runs directly to Kenneth, his throat will be ripped out, and if the player returns to Wesker, and then back to Kenneth, he will be torn apart.
He also appears in
Resident Evil Zero briefly.
