Joseph Frost was a gung-ho member of the local Raccoon City Police S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Service) on their Alpha team as an operative of many skills, in particular the maintenance of weapons and other equipment. In his spare time he enjoyed performing magic tricks, particularly to attempt to wow his friends and fellow teammates. He was characterised by his trademark red bandana which he always wore in combat situations.
One day S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team were dispatched to the local Arklay Mountains region where cases of cannibalism and animal attacks were reported. Earlier the Bravo team were also sent to the same location but they stopped responding shortly after their arrival and so Alpha team were sent in to investigate. Joseph was equipped with a shoulder mounted light source and video camera so other members of his team (either a remote contact or potentially their pilot Brad Vickers) could have a live video feed of his actions.
Curious in nature, once they landed in the forest he scouted ahead to try and figure out what happened - and was set upon by a group of Cerberus B.O.W.s (Bio-Organic Weapons) which he was no match for by himself. He was literally torn to pieces and consumed in mere moments by the beasts and there was nothing anybody could do. Fellow teammate and friend Jill Valentine tried to assist but again was no match for them. The only thing the remaining team could do was run - into a nearby mansion.
Joseph was left outside the Spencer Mansion and was most likely consumed by the B.O.W.s and other creatures out there.
