Finn Macauley was a newly recruited BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance) operative who was assigned to
Chris Redfield's Alpha Team; he and his team were dispatched to Edonia responding to a Civil War that broke out which they later discovered was exacerbated by the C-Virus and various local parties were becoming infected either purposefully or accidentally which required the BSAA's unique forces to overcome.
Such a mammoth task for a recruit who had yet to have any true experience out in the field, he kept close by his team captain Chris. When they approached their destination Finn was assigned to help dismantle any anti-air artillery which could otherwise hinder the rest of the operation. Unfortunately as the team entered the Edonian City Hall, they were ambushed by
Carla Radames who had built an explosive device which could infect anybody in its radius with the C-Virus; the explosive was triggered which resulted in many of the BSAA becoming infected, including Finn.
As much as he tried to withstand the effects of the virus, he soon mutated into a monster which led the surviving members of the team having to put them down.
The impact of having so many members of the team succumb to the virus and perish under his watch put an enormous amount of strain on Chris which later led him to abandon his duties and exile himself. After some time however, Chris managed to reconcile with the BSAA and resume his duties as Alpha Team captain; still lamenting the loss of his colleagues he was encouraged by then-acting team captain
Piers Nivans to assume the role once more so that their deaths were not in vain.
