Adam Benford was the US President between 2011 and 2013, having previously served as US Vice President between 2008 and 2011 - he was quickly inaugurated after the sudden resignation of the previous President. Then, his presidency was cemented after he won the 2012 US Presidential Election. One of his first major decisions as President was to set up the Division of Security Operations (DSO) in which he hired amongst others,
Leon S. Kennedy - the unit was set to replace the US-STRATCOMM which was previously in place to both eliminate viruses such as the
t-Virus and also secondarily protect the Graham family including
Ashley Graham. Once this was achieved, it was wound down and most members were transferred to allow the DSO to flourish.
Adam worked closely with both
Leon and his aide
Derek C. Simmons, the latter of which was also plotting his assassination in secret.
Derek was also the head of The Family who had criminal ties throughout the US. The US Government were fully aware of Umbrellas atrocities over the years and even funded them privately; until this point the public were kept in the dark but Adam had finally decided that enough was enough, time to come clean and reveal to the world exactly what had transpired in a drive to improve relations with the public and other allied nations.
However,
Derek saw things rather differently, he himself was still deeply involved in Bio-Weapons research and only saw revealing the truth as a damaging concept. He knew in his own mind that he had to stop the truth from coming out; he had to kill the President. DSO Agent
Helena Harper tried to warn the US Secret Service about the assassination attempt while Adam was visiting the Tall Oaks University campus but she was quickly rebuffed; she had unfortunately earned herself an unreliable reputation with her co-workers so things continued on schedule.
Derek then unleashed a C-Virus spreading monster named a
Lepotica (named after the Serbian word for 'beautiful woman') which coated the area around the President with an airborne infection - it quickly transformed anyone who breathed in the particles into Zombies, including Adam. He was later found wandering in an office by
Leon who was forced to kill him after he was caught attempting to consume Helena.
His death set off a chain reaction where
Leon and Helena were blamed for his death and the subsequent Bioterrorism attack on Tall Oaks and later in China. However, everything finally came to light after the two chased
Derek across the globe which eventually ended in his demise and the truth being finally revealed to the world.
It is unknown who replaced Adam in terms of the US Presidency but is had been revealed that The Family have retained their influence in the US Government despite
Derek's death.
