Resident Evil 4
Shooter Adventure
Resident Evil 4 is the sixth installment in the Resident Evil series and is often noted for its departure from the fixed camera angles of earlier titles. It introduced an over-the-shoulder third-person perspective, faster-paced gunplay, and more dynamic controls. The game features larger, more open environments and a new AI system that enables enemies to coordinate attacks and attempt to corner the player. Enemies exhibit more human-like behavior, such as climbing ladders, opening doors, and using weapons.

You can read more about Resident Evil 4 in the Wiki.

There seems to be much love for Resident Evil 4 at Umbrella Online - despite the current lack of activity in this thread.

Did you know that the game features English subtitles? You'd be forgiven if not, they can only be activated when the game is played in any other language.. 😵

I really enjoy resident evil 4. I feel it is very underrated and people don't give it the attention it deserves.

This was my first Resi and one of the only ones I've finished - pretty great game alright, haven't played it in a while because I played it bucketloads when I was younger. Definitely love how sassy Leon is too.

Resident Evil 4 was one of those game-changers (literally). It's a bit dated now with it's stop-and-shoot mechanic, but at the time that was a novel and unique way of doing combat. It's still a heck of a lot of fun to play with loads of little secrets here and there.

And as a fun bit of trivia.. the Leon's voice actor also voiced the Merchant (what're ya buyin?)

Honestly, we know we're going to get a remake of RE 4, it's a given at this point. I just hope they don't change too much about the core game. I'm down for updated visuals, character models, and gameplay enhancements, but I hope they keep most or all the story in tact.

Anyway, do you think they can do a RE 4 remake good? Do you even want them to? I feel 4 on its own, still holds up to this day.

I think it's known at this point that I'm not a huge fan of RE4.. it just feels a bit too arcade-y.

I do think that they could do a decent job with a remake. Is it needed? Not really, the original has had various bits of polish added since it's GameCube release, but then again I don't think that fans of the game will mind too much.

It's less interesting to me than a remake of something like Code Veronica, which has aged pretty badly. With RE4 the vision is clear and it still holds up and does it's thing.. but CV is compromised due to the fact that the controls and camera are bad, and it generally isn't fun to go back and play - so I would like to see what that games full potential could be.

I second Code Veronica as well. I think that would be awesome to remaster next. I think RE4 could wait until much later if anything. Because honestly, I was never too big on RE4's controls, so I feel like a bit of a modern update would help it some. But that's just me. I know there are fans out there who would never want RE4 remade, but I think it's inevitable.

If anything, maybe it would be a good idea to do CV first, and then 4 later down the road. Because CV needs it more and like you said, 4 is good right now.

Honestly no, the last time I played RE4 was the HD version on Steam and I see little that could be changed outside of slapping it into the juicy new engine.
That being said, I'll likely still pick it up to see what it's like. I can't imagine they'd half ass it given the original is one of their most reputable titles.

Code Veronica is a remake I'd love to see. But I still prefer all the originals over the remakes in general anyway. :v

RE4, for me, I love playing it on the Wii. I love the Wii remote, so if there is a RE4 remake, I'd like to see a similar control scheme implented into the Switch Joycons. Then I'd probably play an RE4 remake, saying that.... I don't really think we need an RE4 remake.

I guess I've got some slightly old news about this remake?

A few months ago, DC Douglas, voice actor of Wesker leaked some info and concept art on Social Media basically revealing that he was doing work for a Resident Evil 4 remake. He quickly backtracked all this and removed everything, but that didn't stop a screenshot of it from making its way through the internet.

By doing this he broke an NDA between him and Capcom, so not sure what that will mean for him in the future.

I guess whoever he shared this with DID end up sharing after all... :ROFLMAO:

Also as an aside, it kinda emerged that this guy also uses his status as a Resident Evil VA to gain sexual favours and can be a bit of a drunken jerk. Can't really comment on that one but I guess we can just see if Capcom continue to work with the guy!

As much as I don't think we need an RE4 remake, I'll still probably check it out ahahaha. Especially if they give us enough extra content to play around with.

This game is an absolute classic! My favourite way to play is on the Nintendo Wii, it's so easy to get enemies with the Wiimote and it's so much fun with the Wiimote.

Hell yeah dude the Wii was my first venture with the game and it was one of the only games where I really had a blast with the Wii's motion controls - I had one of those plastic gun model things you would place your Wiimote & Nunchuck into, it felt so good

Man did I feel like a headless chicken going into the game on PC with a 360 controller years after :v

It's pretty common knowledge that I've never finished Resident Evil 4.. I couldn't even accurately tell you my furthest point in the game! 😳

I'm putting that right starting this week, and will be live streaming my progress!

Ahahaha yeah, I really suck at aiming with normal controls. I'm a big fan of the Wiimote, especially for the pointer with the sensor bar, it was a better feature than the actual motion controls. The Wii really is a swan song for light gun style games overall. I have tried to play Re4 in different ways, the only time I've beaten it outside of the Wii version was on GameCube and that was with the help of Action Replay ahahaha, so doing it officially on Wii with the Wiimote felt so satisfying.

Just finished Part 2 of the stream today, and I'm nearing the end of Chapter 3-1.

This game really does play completely different to the Resident Evil games of old (and I suppose is likely to have started steering the games in a new direction). It constantly keeps you on your toes, and forces you to play more aggressively.

Got to love some of the one liners too.. Couldn't help chuckle at Louis' comment about Ashley's "ballistics"! 😅

I caught some of it, it was pretty fun watching someone else play!

How many saves though? Gettin close to 30 now? :ROFLMAO:
