U-3, also known as "It" was one of the experimental B.O.W.s (Bio-Organic Weapons) created by the Los Illuminados cult in Spain by haphazardly splicing together human, insect and reptile DNA and implanting a Plaga parasite into it which was a unique type of organism which could bind the creature together by forcing mutations to keep the host alive as one single, horrific thing.

The creature was unique in the way that only one was created - this most likely means it was not a successful bonding of the three types of DNA. However, it displayed characteristics from all three - displaying insect, human, reptile and Plaga features. It's clear that U-3 was considered a failed experiment as it appeared extremely inelegant, with a human torso and head, with one fairly normal looking clawed arm and one unusual fleshy tentacle on the opposite side. On it's lower half it had a combination of lizard and reptile arms, legs and body.

U-3 was encountered by Leon S. Kennedy in an underground area and using careful tactics, Leon managed to seriously harm the creature by dropping it from a great height. This caused it to mutate heavily, where an external Plaga parasite sprouted from the top of it's spine which featured another head with long mandibles which could also be used as claws.

It's clear the combined DNA did not create a single entity - each part of the creature was likely a separate system because after more damage caused by Leon's attacked, the half with the human head and torso appeared to go limp and be apparently dead, while the rest of the creature, particularly the Plaga at the very top continued to try and fight back.

Alas, the beast was not indestructible - once the Plaga had been destroyed by Leon, it's life was extinguished.

The name U-3 was most likely given as the creature comprised of 3 different types of DNA, although "It" seemed far more appropriate which was the nickname given to it by Osmund Saddler.
