Lucia was a survivor of a
t-Virus outbreak onboard the luxurious passenger ship Starlight. All of the guests and crew were killed when a Tyrant (simply named B.O.W.) infected everybody but Lucia was spared when she was saved by
Leon S. Kennedy who was dispatched to the Starlight to locate the creature. For a while she was hidden where she could not be found, only for
Leon to find out that she had a supernatural ability to be able to 'sense' B.O.W.s.
It turned out that her ability was due to her being infected with a B.O.W. Parasite, and that the B.O.W. was sent by Umbrella to retrieve it, as the parasite could be tracked.
She ended up aboard the ship because her foster family decided they could not cope with her 'condition' and subsequently sent her on her way overseas to live with her other relatives. At some point in their adventure
Leon and
Barry Burton make contact and Barry decides to assist Lucia for the rest of their escape.
Once Lucia and Barry made it to an Umbrella submarine, the parasite was removed from her body which quickly became out of control and killed the captain of the vessel, and then caused a sudden
t-Virus outbreak which zombified the entire crew. The parasite was soon thrown overboard... or was it Lucia?
After Barry regained his bearings, rescued Lucia from the ocean and then re-boarded the Starlight he discovered there were two Lucia's aboard. Little did he know, the parasite could shapeshift and mimic human speech so one of these Lucia's was in fact the B.O.W.
As they looked identical, Barry had a dilemma - however, Lucia decided the best way to prove she was human was to cut her own wrist, showing that she had red blood like a humans; the B.O.W. had green blood which was a dead giveaway. The parasite then mutated into it's final form and after a short battle they escape into the submarine one final time and leave the area.
