The Eliminator was an early
t-Virus experiment conducted by Dr
James Marcus of Umbrella Pharmaceuticals whereby he introduced the virus to adult monkeys; the resulting creature provided the company with an immense amount of useful data which would help them with future research.
The B.O.W. (Bio-Organic Weapon) had increased muscle mass, aggression and durability; pain response was also dampened severely. The major downside however was typical with
t-Virus infections of the time - the monkey sustained brain damage which affected its intelligence; particularly when it came to taking commands. The brain damage was in fact a gradual process - when the creature first came to be its intelligence appeared to be fairly on-par with an uninfected monkey; but the intelligence gradually became worse over time.
Initially the Eliminator was set out to be Umbrellas flagship product; a mass-produced B.O.W. - but the lack of intelligence forced the company to abandon the project at the prototype stage. Learning from their mistakes they soon began to attempt human testing which evolved into the Tyrant line of B.O.W.s. Like the Eliminator, at first the prototypes created suffered from a large amount of negative traits, but perseverance and experimenting with surgeries after infection eventually bore a good product: the versatile
T-103.
Although production of the Eliminator ended very early on, all the research was kept and eventually the B.O.W. resurfaced on an offshore Umbrella factory in Russia where they were hastily produced en-masse to be sold onto the black market by the then-struggling company. Unfortunately for them the facility ended up having its very own
t-Virus infection which set in motion the end of Umbrella as a company.
