The Hunter Gamma was a range of mass-produced B.O.W.s (Bio-Organic Weapons) which were the result of many years worth of research - some of them fruitful, some of them failures.
It was a version of the Hunter which was spliced with amphibian DNA - leading to the development of a frog-human hybrid. It was very ferocious but had a handful of key disadvantages such as a severe weakness to fire and heat which made it an easy target in live fire situations. This weakness was essentially a trade-off from the amphibian DNA the creature was based off.
They had pinky-pale skin covered in tumour-like growths and preferred to await their prey in damp environments such as sewers, but they could exist in dry areas also. They battled similarly to the rest of the Hunter series such as by attacking with sharp claws and biting. Their mouths were extremely large in comparison with the rest of their bodies, owing to their frog DNA.
Ultimately Umbrella decided to cancel the production, although they did continue to produce and sell Hunter Gamma models for a number of years.
