What was the first Resident Evil game that you played?

For me it was Resident Evil 2 which may be partially why I have such a fond attachment to it.. Then I picked up a cheap copy of Resident Evil: Director's Cut and despite the graphics obviously not being as good, still really enjoyed it for what it was as a predecessor.

Mine was the original Resident Evil for the Saturn.

I remember enjoying it somewhat, but I never finished the game. It was RE2 that really got me into the genre.

Resident Evil on the PlayStation - I played it at my aunties house. She was big in to games at the time and it gave me nightmares, but somehow I went back for more.

My first game was also Resident Evil 2 - my ex-stepdad left it in a bag full of other PS1 games for my brother and I. I fell in love with it instantly.
Resident Evil 2 was a great game. I am playing the remastered version again (for the third time) right now.

The RE2 remake was so good! I just get sad every time I get to the sewers though... that section really drags the game down for me.

The first one, i remember just going through the game and memorizing zombies spots and bullet to try the next time, since i played Alone in the dark first i was aware of the lack of bullets and stuff like that.

If was much harder than AITD though!

Ahh.. Alone in the Dark, I kinda forgot about that series - I've only ever finished the 2008 game on Xbox 360 which was playable, but not great.

I may try and play the original PlayStation releases at some point, but it isn't a high priority.. ;)

It was the original PlayStation Resident Evil.... Crashes. Glitches. Damn.

Did i actually vote "other (specify)" god knows when and then just not specify D:

Better late than never, my first Resi was 4 on the Wii - I got the little gun-handle attachment thingy for the Wiimote/nunchuck and had great craic, I think I played it 17-18 times in the space of a year and a half hahaha

I'm not knocking you, but RE4 on Wii isn't the most definitive version of RE4. The GameCube version is the better version, just one console before Wii. The best way to experience RE4 today, before the RE4 Remake, it's RE4 on PS4 (not sure if available on Xbox consoles, but it's definitely also available on PC).

Besides that, RE4 Remake exists. :lowered_sunglasses:

The Wii version is pretty cool in its own way.. But I think since the Oculus Quest 2 version exists... you can do so much better... full immersion!

But yeah, one of the best versions of the game is the GameCube version (since that was what the game was designed for) There are just so many things that you may not notice that they cut out when they ported the game to PS2 and other consoles. For example, they simplified a lot of the graphics (look at the trees and the water in the first area... there are some HUGE differences) and converted all of the cut scenes into crappy quality video instead of being in-engine.

My first RE experience was the first one. I had a small games shop in the town I grew up in and they'd have various consoles set up so shoppers could play games if they wished. It was the go-to place after school. Anyways one day they had a PlayStation set up with Resident Evil, and this was not long after it was released. So I played it and died pretty quickly at the first zombie (tank controls were totally new to me). But that had me hooked on this game, so I played it a lot in this shop and eventually cobbled the money to buy a PlayStation so I could play it at home. I bought Resident Evil 2 on the day of its release and that truly cemented my passion for the series, and I've been hooked ever since.

Yeah I've never actually played the GC version! Right now I only own it on Steam, planning on getting the Remake soon enough though it looks rapid!
